I'm a 28 year old fangirl of many things. I flail. I ship. I squee.
I occasionally make graphics that sometimes look decent. If you want to use a gif/picture I used for a reaction, knock yourself out. Credit is very much appreciated if you absolutely have to repost a cap of mine, though. Thank you!
Swear to god, some guys are terrified that girls are faking common interests to impress them and act really hostile towards anyone they even SUSPECT of doing such a thing
but then they turn around and fake a whole friendship in the hopes of getting sex out of girls, and get mad at them when it doesn’t work
and they super do not see the irony in that
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from reading fanfiction, it’s that clear communication will save you at least three chapters of angst.
And it is just so fucking frustrating when people willfully refuse to acknowledge the validity of life experiences other than their own. How many people are there going ‘DON’T LISTEN TO THE HATERS, THEY’RE JUST MAKING EXCUSES!’
Because this attitude is the same attitude that leads people to say things like ‘the poor should just stop being poor’ and ‘If you want it bad enough you’ll make it happen’ with the implication that if you fail, you just didn’t try hard enough/want it badly enough. That trying to explain what your obstacles are is ‘making excuses’ which is really just the status quo’s way of dismissing discussions of said obstacles because if it acknowledged them then it might have to DO SOMETHING about them.
"pursue your passions and money will always follow" is bullshit advice, because -NO IT WON’T-.
The artist herself seems to grok some of what is wrong and harmful about the comic she made (but she still spends most of her post on the subject defending it and saying that the people who have a problem with it aren’t the intended audience and denying that there are racist implications to ignoring the rubric of privilege and presenting her privileged experience as universal), but the throngs of adoring fans who are crying ‘don’t listen to the haters!’ is disheartening.
Posted some of this yesterday, so here’s the rest of the Traumatic Haircut bit…
Tears well up in Edward’s eyes along with the few small drops of blood beading on Richard’s skin, and Edward lays a comforting hand on Richard’s shoulder. “I’m sorry,” he says, his voice rough. “Are you all right?”
"No," Richard says. He isn’t talking about the cut.
Edward squeezes his shoulder in what he hopes is a reassuring manner before pressing a gentle kiss to the back of Richard’s neck. He can taste blood on his lips. He works as slowly and carefully as possible, willing himself not to cry, and Richard does his best to keep still.
When he’s finished, he comes around to examine his handiwork. Richard’s face is ashen, his eyes and lips shut tight and his cheeks wet. Edward reaches out to touch his face, stroking his thumb over Richard’s cheekbone as Richard has often done to him.
"It doesn’t matter," he says. "You look beautiful."
this is also the reaction it’s inspired in me, so….
